ETUI - EFFAT Seminar ‘Empowering young workers to change Trade Unions' takes place in Sesimbra

The training course ‘Empowering young workers to change trade unions’ was organised by ETUI and EFFAT in Sesimbra on 5-7 February 2019. The course aimed at fostering the participation of younger members in the next EFFAT Congress (November 2019).
The seminar allowed EFFAT members to take an active role in the definition of EFFAT political agenda for the upcoming years. Through group and individual work, participants came up with proposals and ideas about the EFFAT work programme for the next Congress period. Furthermore, participants reflected on the future structure and rules of procedure of the next EFFAT Youth Committee, contributed to drafting a roadmap of actions for the years to come, and proposed themes and content for the Youth Conference to be held before Congress.

EFFAT is the European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions. As a European Trade Union Federation representing 120 national trade unions from 35 European countries, EFFAT defends the interests of more than 22 million workers towards the European Institutions, European employers’ associations and transnational companies. EFFAT is a member of the ETUC and the European regional organisation of the IUF.
