Written contracts only can set out employee rights and duties

09/11/2017

Millions of cross-border migrant workers in European agriculture - mostly seasonal workers, temporary workers, harvest workers or day laborers - are victims of social dumping and work in precarious conditions. They need the protection of the Written Statement Directive (Directive 91/533/ EEC).

They need this written statement from the employer - at the latest on the first day of each employment. For this, we have developed a template that enables this goal to be implemented efficiently and unbureaucratically.

EFFAT is the European Federation of Food, Agriculture and Tourism Trade Unions. As a European Trade Union Federation representing 120 national trade unions from 35 European countries, EFFAT defends the interests of more than 22 million workers towards the European Institutions, European employers’ associations and transnational companies. EFFAT is a member of the ETUC and the European regional organisation of the IUF.
